Assisi
Our founding home in Assisi is currently a nursing home run by the city. Some of our Sisters serve the elderly there. The arch that extends over the street was installed just before our Foundress’ death. This first house contains the stone mosaic on the floor of one room. It commemorates our Founder returning to Assisi definitively from Rome in 1725, the year he began many archival sources that we treasure today. Frescoes outside and inside the Oratorio dell’Pellegrino date from the 1400’s. It boasts images of the Madonna and child, angels, and Saints Anthony Abbot and James the Apostle. Mother Angela’s burial place is marked on the right wall near the Altar of the Crucifix in the Lower Basilica. Father Marcheselli’s remains may be in the chapel at Saint Sebastian at the entrance to the Lower Basilica of Saint Francis.
Our Motherhouse welcomes us from all over the world to the Chapter Assemblies: all gatherings, small and large. Viceprovince of the Immaculate Conception, USA Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi

Casa dell’Immacolata, an inn, offers room and board to pilgrims and tourists alike throughout the year. Groups and individuals are welcome. Pilgrims come and stay, finding faith, meaning, a life’s work, a family of friends, the wonders of nature: A spirituality, a mission, a fraternity in Christ’s and in Francis’ followers today. We open our doors to the world of pilgrims who come to the tombs of Francis and Clare. Our Missionary Display invites your reflections and participation.
